FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
WHAT EXPERIENCE DO I NEED PRIOR TO TAKING YOUR FIREARMS TRAINING COURSE?
No experience needed. We enjoy training clients with little to no experience with firearms.
I’M INTIMIDATED BY FIREARMS. WILL I BE ABLE TO EFFECTIVELY COMPLETE THE FIREARMS TRAINING COURSE?
We are regular citizens and people like you, and our teaching style is welcoming to those who are new to firearms or intimidated by them. We’ve effectively helped clients go from new and intimidated to confident, competent and capable with our course.
WHERE WILL THE COURSE TAKE PLACE?
The first day of training takes place in our indoor training facility where we cover many topics and have the opportunity to practice safely without any live ammunition, using safe dry practice including lasers. The second day of training will be at a local outdoor firearms training range where you will build on what was learned the first day and practice with live ammunition.
WHAT WILL I NEED TO BRING TO THE TRAINING?
You will need the following for the training. If you don’t have any of these items, please feel free to contact us for help finding which products will work best for you. We are happy to help!
- Eye protection (prescription glasses are generally okay)
- Electronic ear protection
- Sturdy belt intended to carry weight of firearm
- Your firearm
- Appropriate holster
- 300 rounds of factory ammunition
- 3 or more magazines or revolver speed loaders
- Optional 2 magazine or 2 speed loader pouch
- Sturdy shoes or boots
- Sack lunch and any snacks you may want (We will provide water)
WHAT SHOULD I WEAR FOR THE RANGE TRAINING?
Weather appropriate, comfortable, casual clothing is suggested, however keep in mind that some firearms eject brass that somehow manages to find its way into clothing. This brass is hot, so we suggest no V-necked or low-cut shirts. Crew neck t-shirts are generally a safe choice. We also suggest a hat with a brim, such as a ball cap. Further safety about hot brass will be covered during the course.
DO YOU PROVIDE CONCEALED CARRY TRAINING FOR ME TO GET MY TEXAS LICENSE TO CARRY?
Our training is designed to teach people to be able to effectively use their firearm and be able to defend themselves if they needed to. We include training for how to safely carry concealed and get the firearm from its concealed holster onto target safely and efficiently. We do not provide the training for Texas License to Carry at this time. With the current Texas “Constitutional Carry” law, eligible law abiding individuals are able to carry their firearms openly or concealed in unrestricted areas, without a license.
WHAT TYPES OF FIREARMS CAN I BRING TO TRAINING?
We offer training with handguns in 9mm, .40, or .45 caliber.
HOW MANY STUDENTS WILL BE IN THE COURSE?
We typically keep class sizes small, with up to 4 students per course, so that each student can receive individualized attention.
WHAT ARE THE PHYSICAL DEMANDS OF THE COURSE?
The first day of training will be indoors in our training center where we will be sitting for the classroom portion, and then standing and moving around the training facility while we train with laser technology. The second day of training will be outdoors. We provide water and encourage students to stay hydrated and take breaks in the shade as needed.
IS THIS AN NRA COURSE?
No, this is not an NRA sanctioned course. We are happy to provide NRA sanctioned courses, but those are separate from our custom personal safety and security courses.
